This is ridiculous! I should have never left Mahogany town. My clothes are filthy from travel, back at Groznyj Grad I would have been provided a vehicle!

[He grumbles.]

Those monsters, Pokémon, if I see one more purple rat I'm going to scream. You can't even eat them! THEY'RE USELESS!

[Looks like he screamed anyway. His Pikachu can be heard in the background.]

Pika...?

It's either eat berries or take menial jobs...I became a Major so lesser people would do this for me.

[If anybody in Cherrygrove decides to visit the PokéMart, Ivan's there, begrudgingly working part time at the register and wasting time by fiddling with his PokéGear. He's still wearing his scuffed up Major's uniform, of course.]

[The door opens, but there's no one there. The door closes and a few moments later another Pikachu jumps onto the counter and waves at Zhenya with a big smile on its face.]

Pika pi! Pika pika!

[Ivan jumps back in fright, looking around for the trainer. Zhenya just pipes up happily.]

Pikaa! Pikachu!

[He waits a moment before grumbling and shooing the Pikachu to get off the counter.]

Get out! [He scoops Zhenya up in his arm to separate them.]

[The Pikachu just avoids Ivan's arms, thinking that the other was just playing, so it laughs.]

Pika~! Pika~!

Jinjing! [The door opens and this time China enters the store. Jinjing's ears twitch when he hears his name and he turns around to face China before jumping onto him and climbing up to his shoulder. China then speaks in Mandarin to the pokemon.]

You shouldn't cause trouble for others, aru. Also I was worried sick when I turned around and you weren't there! What would Hong Kong say if I lost you?

[Jinjing's expression falls a little and his ears droop as he lets out a soft apology. He also sends an apologizing glance at Jinjing and Ivan.]

[Ivan just stares at China as he speaks Mandarin, various stereotypes coming to mind.]

You caught a Pikachu? [He finally asks as Zhenya waves his arms frantically, trying to tell Jinjing that he didn't need to worry about anything--Ivan is just grumpy.]

[China looks at Ivan and shakes his head, smiling a little.]

Oh, no, aru. Jinjing was my brother's starter pokemon. However, now that he's no longer here, Jinjing is my responsibility now, aru. And I apologize if he caused any trouble, he must have gotten excited over meeting another Pikachu.

[Jinjing's ears perk up a little and he smiles sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head with one hand.]

Oh, right. That explains it...

[He feels a bit jealous, although he can't place why. He just is. After all, he had a Pikachu first.

Ivan placed Zhenya back on the counter.]

Well I still have an hour left in my shift, so what do you want?

[Oh, Ivan. You're going to be jealous of everything, aren't you?]

[China just blinks at first. However, he soon remembers that they were running low on rice.]

One bag of rice, aru. Otherwise we won't have enough for tonight.

Speaking of shifts, I'll be heading over to mine after this, aru.

[He's good at that.]

[Ivan grumbles and points to one of the shelves across from him.]

We don't sell that over the counter.

[He leans his chin in his hand, looking rather disgruntled.]

This is so pathetic...I'm doing the work of a Maggot...no, lower than a Maggot! A civilian.

[When China turns to get the rice, Jinjing jumps off his shoulder and back onto the counter. He extends his paw out to Zhenya with a smile on his face.]

Pika.

[China sighs and turns again once he has the rice.]

Working at a place like this is nothing, aru. Try taking care of eight younger siblings while defending your country at the same time.

Chuu. [Zhenya shakes the other's paw with a big smile.]

[Ivan bluntly replies, taking the rice and scanning it.] I don't have any siblings. P300.

[Jinjing's smile grows bigger and he nods his head.] Pi pikachu!

[China takes the money from bag and hands it to Ivan before taking the rice.]

That might be a good thing, aru. It makes things harder for yourself when all your siblings are wary of you and dislike you to the point where they come at you, armed, several times.

[Take it from his personal experiences.]

[Zhenya nods back a couple times, holding his arms out.] Piii ka!

[Ivan counts out the cash and pulls out a few bills for himself while China wasn't looking.]

If I had siblings I'd make sure they knew their place--under me. [He huffed; the man was not in the best of moods today.]

[Jinjing sees the invite and hugs Zhenya.] Pika pika~!

I guess I was too soft on them, aru. I just didn't think our family would become so twisted.

Still, it's not like they're trying to assassinate me every day. In the present we get along better compared to how we used to treat each other in the past, aru.

[Ivan scowls at the two Pikachus hugging.]

...Assassinate? [He tilted his head back a bit.] That's quite the family you have there.

[Assassins...he hated assassins.]

[Jinjing doesn't seem to care, let alone notice that Ivan was glaring at him and Zhenya. He releases Zhenya and starts a conversation, asking things like 'How are you' or 'What is your master like.']

[China shifts the bag of rice in his arms before pinching the bridge of his nose.]

You have no idea, aru... The fact that all of them, except one, work for other countries just makes things more complicated amongst us.

[Zhenya goes on to tell Jinjing about all the neat colored rocks and flowers he's found, and how, in private, Ivan pets and lets him sleep beside him sometimes.]

Heh, it makes me glad I left mine behind. Ties like that just hold you back.

[Jinjing smiles at Zhenya for that. Then he goes ahead and tells Zhenya all the adventures he had with HK and all the new adventures he's had with China. He also talks about that one time China got drunk at a festival back in November.]

I guess... they do. [He was reluctant to say that.] But even so, we're family, aru. Plus it's sort of... impossible for me to cut my ties with them.

[Zhenya talks about how Ivan complains about being hungry most of the day.]

Of course they do. [He smirks.] I guess when they're as powerful as you are...it would be.

[Jinjing nods his head and laughs a little as he starts talking about how China can be such an old man some times, but it was friendly teasing of course. China's expression slightly darkens at that last part.]

I was the one who taught them everything they know, aru. They may have caught me off guard in the past, but that has not happened in years and I'll make sure it won't happen again.

Besides, I've been getting stronger over the past few years, aru.

[Zhenya laughs as well, waiting for Jinjing to finish before he talks about Ivan's strange drawing habits.]

That was your first mistakes. [He gestured, smiling as usual.]

Hopefully you can stay ahead of the game, it's so easy to topple over when you're standing at the top of the ladder...

[Ivan sounding smart? It happens.]

[Jinjing tilts his head? Drawing habits? Like what?]

[China actually smirks at that.]

I have "toppled over" many times before, as have my siblings. But because of who we are, we rise over and over again, aru. We were born and raised to handle such things.

[Zhenya continues, saying Ivan draws whenever he has a surface available.]

Heh, I never have. I guess it's commendable to say you've gotten back up, but to have never fallen at all...

[Jinjing crosses his arms in front of his chest and mentions how China is very good at sewing and carving instruments from wood.]

Yes, yes, to have never fallen is also something worth mentioning, aru. [But returning from the dead is something even greater... is what China would like to say but can't. Not yet.]

Then again, it must be easy for a man who has no siblings. I've always wondered what it'd be like, being a single child your whole life, aru.

[Zhenya tilts his head, not sure what JinJing means.]

[Ivan grins, the smug look on his face growning.]

Easy...I'm just not handicapped, that doesn't make it easy.

[Jinjing explains how China learned to sew from his favorite nursemaid as a child, so now he can sew beautiful clothes and then his favorite type of fabric to use was silk. Jinjing goes on to tell Zhenya about the bamboo flute China kept in his bag.]

Now that you mention it, it truly is never easy, aru. I can remember the days before my siblings came into my life and even then it was never easy for me.

But... [His eyes soften.] I wouldn't call a family a handicap, aru. Personally, I think you're lucky for having parents in the first place.
